Perryville, MO (June 5, 2026) – Two Perryville teenagers were injured on Thursday afternoon, June 4, in a collision involving farm equipment in Perry County. The accident happened at 4:35 p.m. on northbound Missouri Route 51, just north of Perry County Road 706. The roadway is southwest of Perryville.
According to the report, a 17-year-old driver was heading north and tried to pass a slow-moving farm implement. He then lost control of his car, which went off the left side of the road and flipped.
The driver had moderate injuries, while his 17-year-old male passenger had minor injuries; both were brought to a Perryville hospital for treatment. The circumstances leading up to the crash are still being examined.
We hope both wounded teenagers continue to heal after this frightening rollover.
Farm Equipment on Rural Roads Can Create Passing Hazards
Farm equipment usually moves much slower than regular traffic. On rural highways, this speed difference can create risk when a driver tries to pass.
Large machinery may take up more space than a standard vehicle. It can also limit sight lines, especially on narrow roads, hills, or curves. Drivers may need extra distance before moving around it safely.
Rollovers can happen when a vehicle leaves the pavement, overcorrects, or hits uneven ground. Seat belts can help reduce the chance of being thrown around inside the vehicle. In crashes involving younger drivers, investigators sometimes review speed, road layout, passing distance, and whether safety restraints were used.
