Corcoran, MN (May 24, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision involving four vehicles caused injuries on Friday evening, May 22, at Highway 55 and Pioneer Trail in Corcoran.
According to authorities, a 2015 Honda Accord and a 2024 Toyota Corolla were traveling westbound on Highway 55 when the Honda collided with a Hyundai Palisade traveling eastbound. Investigators said the impact caused the Hyundai to strike the Toyota before a 2007 Honda Accord also collided with the Hyundai.
Emergency units responded to the intersection shortly after 5:16 p.m. after reports of injuries connected to the crash. Few details about the number of people hurt or the severity of those injuries were immediately released. Officials noted the roadway was dry at the time of the collision.
Investigators are continuing to review the sequence of impacts that led to the collision. We are thinking of those injured and wishing them a smooth recovery.
Why Chain-Reaction Crashes Often Involve Multiple Impacts
Chain-reaction collisions can develop quickly when vehicles traveling in opposite directions or proximity are unable to avoid an initial impact. Once one vehicle is struck, momentum may push it into nearby traffic, creating additional collisions within seconds.
Investigators typically examine vehicle speed, lane positioning, and impact points to determine how each stage of the crash unfolded. Damage patterns and debris distribution can help identify the order of impacts between vehicles.
Even on dry roads, drivers may have limited time to react when traffic conditions change suddenly. Multi-vehicle crashes often require extended investigation because each impact must be reviewed separately to understand the complete sequence.
