Why Motorcycle and SUV Crashes Can Cause Serious Harm
Crashes between motorcycles and larger vehicles can lead to severe injuries because riders have little protection. An SUV has more weight, height, and structure than a motorcycle, which can increase the force of impact for the rider.
Injuries may depend on speed, impact angle, and where the vehicles made contact. A rider may be thrown from the motorcycle or hit the roadway after impact. Medical teams often check for head trauma, broken bones, chest injuries, and internal injuries.
Road closures are common after serious crashes on busy streets. Lanes may stay blocked while damaged vehicles are moved, debris is cleared, and emergency units make the area safe for others traveling nearby.
