Frequently Asked Questions
Does speed make a crash worse? Yes. Higher speed means more force in a collision and less time for either driver to react, which usually leads to more serious injuries.
Why is distracted driving considered so risky? Taking eyes or attention off the road for even a few seconds, especially near highway speeds, removes the reaction time needed to avoid a sudden hazard like a slowing vehicle ahead.
Can weather or road conditions play a role in crashes like this? Wet pavement, fog, glare, and low visibility can all reduce traction and make it harder to judge distance, which can contribute to collisions between vehicles of different sizes.
What should someone do right after a car crash? Check for injuries, call 911 if anyone is hurt, move to a safe location if possible, and exchange information while waiting for law enforcement to arrive.
