How Multi-Vehicle Crashes Develop on Busy City Streets
Crashes involving several vehicles often happen when traffic is dense, and one sudden stop or impact triggers a chain reaction. When cars are traveling close together, drivers may not have enough time or distance to avoid the vehicle in front of them.
The force from the first collision can push vehicles into other lanes or into additional cars. This can spread damage across a wide area and lead to road closures while crews remove debris.
Investigators usually look at traffic flow, signal timing, and the position of each vehicle after the crash. These details help show how the sequence of impacts unfolded.
