Vicco, KY (March 2, 2026) – A 16-year-old girl died Saturday evening, February 28, after an ATV crash on Oakwood Avenue in Vicco.
The passenger, Emilynn Clark, was riding with a 16-year-old driver when the vehicle went off the road and over an embankment around 9 p.m. Two adult men were also passengers, and one was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Authorities say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash. The teenage driver has been charged with DUI, though her name has not been released due to her age. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video and conducting tests to determine alcohol involvement.
The ATV involved is registered to Noah Back. Additional charges related to vehicular homicide or manslaughter could be considered as the investigation continues.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash, and more details will be released as they become available.
Our condolences go out to Emilynn Clark’s family and loved ones.
How ATV Accidents Can Lead to Serious Injuries
All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are designed for off-road use and can be unstable on paved or uneven surfaces. Collisions, rollovers, or going off-road over embankments can result in severe injuries or fatalities, especially for passengers who may not be wearing proper safety gear.
Alcohol use significantly increases the risk of ATV accidents by impairing judgment, coordination, and reaction time. Passengers, particularly young riders, are more vulnerable to injury because they cannot control the vehicle and may be thrown during abrupt maneuvers or crashes.
ATV safety measures, such as helmets, protective clothing, and limiting passengers, can reduce risk, but accidents often occur when vehicles are operated in unsafe conditions or by impaired drivers.
