Chicago, IL (May 25, 2026) – A 64-year-old woman died early Sunday morning, May 24, after a two-vehicle accident in Chicago’s Grand Crossing neighborhood.
The collision was reported at about 2:42 a.m. in the 6900 block of South Stony Island Avenue. Police said the woman, later identified as Detrice D. Wortham, was in a black SUV traveling north.
A McLaren sports car was traveling east when it hit the SUV, according to police. Wortham was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police later identified 45-year-old Garland Spikes as the alleged driver of the McLaren. He faces charges including reckless homicide, driving with a suspended license, and reckless driving.
Police said the driver of the black SUV left after the wreck.
