Vienna, VA (January 10, 2026) – A 44-year-old man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition early on January 10 after being struck by a vehicle in one of Vienna’s busiest intersections, prompting significant traffic disruptions during the morning commute.
The incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of Maple Ave W and Nutley St SW. According to the Vienna Police, the man was crossing the roadway when he was hit by a vehicle traveling northbound on Maple Ave. Emergency personnel arrived quickly to provide aid, and the injured pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Authorities confirmed that the driver involved stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Officials emphasized that the incident was not a hit-and-run.
Due to the crash, the northbound lanes of Maple Ave toward Tysons remained closed for over two hours before reopening around 8:50 a.m. In addition, westbound Nutley St between Maple Ave and Courthouse Rd was temporarily shut down to allow investigators and cleanup crews to work safely.
