Virgin, UT (March 6, 2026) – A two-year-old child was seriously hurt after being struck by a vehicle on Thursday morning, March 5, near Dalton Wash Road in the Virgin area of southern Utah.
Emergency units responded to the scene just before noon after reports that a young child had been hit by a car. Paramedics arrived quickly and began providing aid to the toddler at the location of the crash.
Officials said the child was later transferred to a helicopter crew for further medical transport. The toddler was then flown to a trauma center in Las Vegas for additional treatment.
The incident remains under review by authorities. We are thinking of the child and family as medical teams continue to provide care.
Risks and Concerns in Child Pedestrian Accidents
Areas near residential roads, such as Dalton Wash Road, can include both local traffic and people walking nearby. When young children are present, drivers and caregivers may face added challenges in keeping the area safe.
Children are smaller, which makes them less visible to drivers, especially when vehicles are moving through neighborhoods or rural access roads. Their movements can also be unpredictable and reduce the time a driver has to react.
Crashes involving young pedestrians often lead to serious injuries because children have little protection from the impact of a moving vehicle. Visibility, vehicle speed, and the surrounding environment can all influence how these incidents occur.
