Virginia Beach, VA (January 1, 2026) – A motorcyclist has died following a crash that occurred late Sunday morning in a residential part of Virginia Beach. The collision took place around 11:38 a.m. in the 800 block of Diamond Springs Rd, near its intersection with Hampshire Ln.
According to the Virginia Beach Police Department, 58-year-old Kerry Lawing was riding his motorcycle southbound on Diamond Springs Rd when another vehicle turned in front of him, resulting in a violent impact. Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported Lawing to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead on Monday.
The driver of the other vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, authorities confirmed. No charges have been announced at this time, and officials have not disclosed further details about the other party or the vehicle involved.
The area where the crash occurred is primarily residential, and the intersection is known for regular traffic activity. The roadway was temporarily closed during the investigation and cleanup but has since been reopened.
