Frequently Asked Questions
How do road and weather conditions factor into multi-vehicle crashes like this one?
Even on dry pavement, as reported in this crash, factors like speed, following distance, and driver attention play a major role in whether a chain-reaction collision occurs. Wet, icy, or snow-covered roads common in Minnesota can add stopping-distance problems on top of those factors.
What should someone do right after a car accident?
Move to a safe spot if possible, check for injuries, call 911, and exchange information with other drivers involved. Even if injuries seem minor, it's wise to get checked by a medical provider, since some symptoms take hours or days to appear.
Where do most multi-vehicle crashes happen?
Highways and other high-speed roads see a large share of multi-vehicle collisions, often where traffic merges, slows unexpectedly, or visibility is reduced.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Watab Township, Minnesota
If you're involved in a crash in the Watab Township area, start by checking yourself and any passengers for injuries, then move to a safe location away from traffic if you're able. Call 911 so law enforcement and medical responders can reach the scene. Even without obvious injuries, a medical evaluation is a good idea, since whiplash and internal injuries aren't always immediately apparent. Take photos of the vehicles and the scene if it's safe to do so, and get contact information from anyone else involved or any witnesses. Keep a copy of the official crash report once it's available, as it may be useful for insurance purposes.
