Watsonville, CA (January 28, 2026) – Four people were hurt in a serious crash late Monday night on the northbound Highway 1 on-ramp at Riverside Dr, an incident now under investigation by the California Highway Patrol as a possible DUI collision.
The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. and required extensive emergency response due to trapped occupants. CAL FIRE CZU, along with Pajaro Dunes and Watsonville Fire personnel, worked urgently to perform multiple extrications at the scene. According to CAL FIRE, a battalion chief and fire crews from both agencies coordinated to safely free the victims.
Authorities confirmed that four individuals suffered injuries ranging from moderate to major. Three of the victims were transported by ground ambulance to local hospitals, while one person required air transport for specialized care due to the severity of their injuries.
CHP has classified the incident as a DUI-related crash. While no arrests or suspect details have been made public, the investigation remains ongoing.
