Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a crash more likely to turn deadly?
Factors such as the speed of the vehicles involved, whether occupants were wearing seat belts, and the angle or force of impact all affect the likelihood that a crash proves fatal.
Why does speed matter so much in a crash?
Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force of any impact, which raises the chances of serious or fatal injury.
Why do seat belts make such a difference?
Seat belts keep occupants from being thrown from their seats or out of the vehicle during a crash, which lowers the risk of severe injury or death.
What should a family do after a fatal crash?
Families can request the official crash report from the investigating agency, which in this case is the Florida Highway Patrol, once it becomes available, and can reach out to the agency directly with questions about the investigation.
