West Des Moines, IA (January 19, 2026) – A crash on eastbound Interstate 235 near the 22nd Street off-ramp left one individual with facial injuries Saturday night. The collision occurred around 9:54 p.m. on January 16, triggering a multi-unit emergency response.
Initial reports indicate that the injured individual sustained facial trauma, likely caused by airbag deployment. Police, fire crews, and EMS personnel—including Engines 180 and 220, Ladder 215, and ambulance teams—arrived at the scene to provide care and manage the traffic impact along the eastbound lanes of I-235.
The total number of vehicles involved has not yet been confirmed, but responders remained on site to evaluate additional occupants and investigate the circumstances of the crash. Eastbound traffic near the off-ramp was slowed while crews addressed the scene.
