Why Can Head-On Crashes Occur on Rural Highways Like Highway 2?
Routes carrying regional traffic near Highway 2 and Ice Avenue can see steady vehicle movement between communities. When crashes occur in Davis County, crews often focus on securing the roadway while assisting those involved.
Rural highways often have traffic moving in opposite directions with limited separation between lanes. A vehicle drifting across the center line, especially at highway speeds, can quickly lead to a direct impact.
When collisions happen along these stretches of road, traffic may slow while crews work to assist victims and clear the scene. These responses help restore safe travel conditions once damaged vehicles are removed.
