Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do if I'm involved in a crash at an intersection or highway crossing?
Stay at the scene, call 911 if anyone is hurt, and exchange insurance and contact information with the other driver. Take photos of vehicle positions and damage if it's safe to do so, and request a copy of the official report once it's filed.
What injuries commonly result from side-impact or T-bone style collisions?
Even at moderate speeds, occupants can suffer bruising, whiplash, and soft-tissue injuries from the sudden jolt. Seat belts and airbags reduce the risk of more serious harm, but a medical check is still worthwhile even if symptoms seem minor at first.
What typically causes crashes where one vehicle is crossing or turning onto a highway?
Failing to yield the right of way is a frequent factor, often tied to misjudging the speed or distance of oncoming traffic. Limited visibility, distraction, and heavier traffic flow can all make these crossings harder to judge safely.
Does vehicle speed change how serious a crash turns out to be?
Yes. Higher speeds mean less time to react and more force transferred in a collision, so crashes on highways with higher speed limits tend to produce more severe damage and injury than similar crashes at lower speeds.
What to Do After a Two-Vehicle Crash in West Quincy, MO
If you're involved in a crash like this one, start by checking yourself and others for injuries before moving anywhere unsafe. Call for emergency help right away, even if injuries seem minor, since some symptoms take hours to appear. Once you're medically cleared, follow up with your own doctor if anything still feels off days later. Keep records of any treatment, vehicle damage, and the official crash report, as these documents matter later for insurance purposes. Giving yourself time to recover, physically and otherwise, is just as important as handling the paperwork.
