Whittier, CA (January 18, 2026) – Emergency crews responded Friday night to a serious hit-and-run crash involving injuries at the intersection of Mulberry Dr and Maryknoll Ave in Whittier.
The incident occurred on January 17, with initial reports coming in around 8:14 p.m. California Highway Patrol dispatch logs indicate that the collision involved a motorcycle and a gray Dodge Challenger. Units arrived at the scene shortly after being assigned, confirming damage to both vehicles. The crash was classified as a felony hit-and-run with injuries.
Responding officers later located the suspected vehicle and a male individual asleep inside. According to reports, the car showed signs of crash damage, and an open beer can was seen on the floorboard, raising concerns of possible DUI involvement. One or more victims sustained injuries, though the full extent of those injuries has not been disclosed.
Towing services were requested, and multiple tow companies were contacted to assist with vehicle removal. The primary suspect vehicle was eventually impounded under section 22651 of the California Vehicle Code.
