WICHITA, Sedgwick County, Kan., Oct. 23, 2026 — A 21-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday evening, October 22, after a crash with an SUV near K-96 and Greenwich Rd in northeast Wichita. The Wichita Police Department identified him as Bader Nassar, of Wichita.
Officers were called shortly before 7 p.m. to a report of an injury crash at the interchange. They found Nassar in the roadway as fire crews and paramedics tried to save him. He died at the scene.
A preliminary investigation found that a silver GMC Acadia had left westbound K-96 and was turning left to head north on Greenwich when it struck a motorcycle traveling west from Greenwich Court onto the westbound K-96 ramp. A 16-year-old boy was driving the SUV, with a 41-year-old passenger inside. Both stayed at the scene. Investigators said speed may have been a factor in the crash.
The department's Accident Follow-Up Unit and Critical Accident Team are continuing to investigate. Bethel College in North Newton said Nassar was a student there and played on its soccer team. He also played indoor soccer for Wichita Selection.
We are deeply sorry for the loss suffered by the victim's family.

Frequently Asked Questions
What typically causes motorcycle accidents?
Left-turn collisions, speeding, and distracted driving are frequent factors. Many crashes happen at intersections or ramps where a driver misjudges a motorcycle's speed or distance.
Why do motorcycle crashes tend to cause more serious injuries?
Motorcycles offer riders little protection compared to a car's frame, airbags, and seat belts. Even a lower-speed impact can throw a rider from the bike or into the path of other vehicles.
How do left-turning vehicles cause collisions with motorcycles?
A car turning left across traffic may not see an oncoming motorcycle, especially if it's smaller in the driver's view or partly hidden by glare or other vehicles. These turns are a common point of impact at intersections and highway ramps.
What can drivers do to spot motorcycles more easily?
Checking mirrors and blind spots twice before turning, and waiting for a clear gap rather than estimating a motorcycle's speed, can help prevent these crashes.
What to Do After a Motorcycle Crash in Wichita, KS
If you're involved in or witness a motorcycle crash, call 911 right away and stay with the injured rider until help arrives if it's safe to do so. Even if injuries seem minor, a medical evaluation is important, since some injuries like internal bleeding or head trauma aren't immediately obvious. Get the names and contact information of any witnesses, and request a copy of the police report once it's available. If you're a rider who's been hurt, keep records of medical visits and any time missed from work or school, since these details can matter later. Wichita police encourage anyone with information about a crash to come forward, even after the initial investigation has wrapped up.
