Wichita, KS (August 25, 2026) – A 53-year-old Wichita man died on Monday afternoon, August 24, after a chain-reaction wreck on westbound K-96 just west of North Greenwich Road, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. A Kia Optima merging from the left lane into the right lane partially entered the on-ramp merge lane before over-correcting and striking a Toyota Tacoma, sending both vehicles into the median around 4:30 p.m.
The Toyota crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a Chevrolet Volt, then a Dodge Ram pickup behind the Volt. Robert Wayne Galloway, the driver of the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kia’s driver was uninjured. The Chevrolet’s driver and the Dodge’s driver both had possible injuries but were not recorded as being transported to the hospital.
