Williams Co, OH (January 7, 2026) – Emergency responders from Superior Township acted swiftly on Tuesday morning following a tragic collision that resulted in one fatality along a rural stretch of County Road I.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 7:30 a.m. in the eastbound lane of County Rd I, just east of County Rd 10. Upon arrival, medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the multi-part incident, which involved a pedestrian and two vehicles.
Authorities reported that a truck was stopped in the eastbound lane for an unspecified reason when a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, operated by a juvenile driver, struck the rear of the stationary truck. Following the initial impact, the Cobalt veered into the westbound lane and struck a man who had exited the parked vehicle.
The pedestrian, identified as 64-year-old David Fox of Edon, was pronounced dead at the scene. His reasons for leaving the truck remain unknown, and investigators have not yet confirmed what caused the vehicle to be stationary in an active travel lane.
The crash remains under active investigation by the OSHP Defiance Post. At this time, no additional details have been released regarding the condition of the juvenile driver or any other occupants involved.
