Frequently Asked Questions
What should a rider do after a motorcycle crash?
Get to a safe spot if possible, call 911, and seek medical evaluation even if injuries seem minor, since some injuries aren't obvious right away. Exchange information with the other driver and wait for police to arrive and document the scene.
Are motorcycle crashes more common at intersections?
Yes. A large share of motorcycle collisions happen at intersections, usually when a driver turning across traffic fails to see an oncoming rider or misjudges its speed and distance.
What gear helps reduce injury for motorcyclists?
A DOT-approved helmet, a riding jacket and pants built for abrasion resistance, gloves, and over-the-ankle boots all help reduce the severity of injuries in a crash.
