Pembroke Pines, FL (June 1, 2026) – A woman and her 11-year-old son were taken to a hospital Sunday after a crash in Pembroke Pines.
The accident happened near Southwest 83rd Avenue and Pines Boulevard. Pembroke Pines police said westbound traffic in the area was shut down because of the collision.
NBC6 footage showed two vehicles involved in the wreck. A man told reporters that his wife and their son were traveling west on Pines Boulevard when another driver hit them.
The man said his wife’s SUV flipped over twice after the impact. Both she and the child were rushed to the hospital, and he said they were doing okay.
The other driver was also taken to a hospital. That driver’s condition was not immediately known.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation as officials continue gathering information. We hope everyone injured receives the care and support needed during recovery.
Why Rollover Crashes Can Cause Serious Injuries
Rollover crashes can be dangerous because occupants may be thrown against seat belts, airbags, doors, windows, or the roof area as the vehicle turns over. Injuries may involve the head, neck, back, chest, arms, or legs.
When a child is involved, medical teams may take extra care to check for hidden injuries that may not be obvious right away. Investigators may review vehicle positions, speed, traffic signals, road conditions, damage patterns, and witness statements to understand how the crash happened. Traffic closures also help crews treat patients, move damaged vehicles, and safely clear the scene.
