Lancaster, OH (July 12, 2026) – A woman and a 3-year-old child were killed in a fatal two-vehicle collision on Thursday evening, July 9, on Bremen Road in Berne Township, Fairfield County.
The collision happened around 7:33 p.m. when a Kia Forte traveling east crossed the centerline and struck a westbound GMC Arcadia. Emergency units took the Kia driver, Miranda Maughmer, 25, of Lancaster, and two children to Fairfield Medical Center for treatment. Maughmer and the 3-year-old child died at the hospital, while the 8-month-old child suffered minor injuries.
The GMC driver, a 33-year-old Bremen woman, was also taken to Fairfield Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
