Why Rear-End DUI Crashes Can Be Especially Severe
Rear-end collisions involving impaired driving can result in significant injuries due to delayed reaction times and reduced vehicle control. When a driver is unable to properly judge distance or speed, the force of impact can increase dramatically.
These crashes often occur in urban intersections where traffic is stopping or slowing, giving following drivers less room for error. Occupants in the struck vehicle are especially vulnerable to sudden forward movement and secondary impacts.
After DUI-related crashes, investigators typically examine toxicology results, vehicle data, and roadway evidence. These findings help determine how impairment may have contributed to the collision and the severity of the outcome.
