DeKalb County, GA (August 18, 2026) – A woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle while directing traffic around an earlier crash on Interstate 285 near the LaVista Road exit on Sunday, August 16.
DeKalb County police said the woman was standing on the interstate and helping direct traffic around the previous accident when she was hit. The driver of the vehicle that struck her was also injured and taken to a hospital.
The crash caused Interstate 285 to remain closed for several hours while officers worked at the scene. Police have not said whether charges will be filed. This is a developing story.
