What Is Commonly Reviewed in Left-Turn vs. Through-Traffic Crashes?
Left-turn crashes involving through traffic are frequently analyzed because they usually hinge on right-of-way decisions and timing. Investigators typically examine signal phases, vehicle speeds, and the exact positioning of each vehicle before impact.
Visibility conditions, reaction time, and intersection design are also reviewed to understand whether drivers had a clear opportunity to avoid the collision. Evidence such as skid marks, vehicle damage, and traffic signal data can help reconstruct the sequence of events. These details are used to determine how the crash occurred and what factors contributed to the outcome.
