What Factors Are Commonly Reviewed in Left-Turn Motorcycle Crashes?
Left-turn crashes involving motorcycles are closely examined due to differences in visibility and vehicle size. Investigators typically review traffic signal timing, driver sight lines, and the speed of both vehicles leading up to impact.
Motorcycles can be harder to detect in traffic, especially at night, which may affect how drivers judge distance and timing. Roadway design, lighting conditions, and turning movements are also considered. Evidence such as vehicle damage, skid marks, and witness accounts can help reconstruct how the collision unfolded. These findings assist investigators in determining how the crash occurred and what contributed to the outcome.
