Livingston Parish, LA (August 26, 2026) – A 31-year-old Lutcher woman died after a head-on crash early on Monday morning, August 24, on Louisiana Highway 444 near Dutch Lane. The collision happened shortly before 4:45 a.m.
State police said the woman was driving a Nissan Altima east on Louisiana Highway 444 when her vehicle entered the westbound lane while attempting to pass another vehicle. The Altima then collided head-on with a GMC Sierra.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she later died. The GMC driver was also hospitalized with moderate injuries.
The crash remains under investigation. We extend our sincere condolences to the woman’s family and loved ones, and we hope the injured driver recovers fully.

Passing on a two-lane road can place a vehicle directly in the path of oncoming traffic if there is not enough time or distance to complete the maneuver safely.
