Nocona, TX (August 11, 2026) – A 57-year-old Nocona woman was killed, and three Oklahoma residents were injured on Sunday, August 9, in a head-on crash on FM-677 in Montague County. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded around 12:35 p.m. to the crash near mile marker 188.
A preliminary investigation found that Jamie Lynn Hunter was driving a 2009 Nissan Sentra southbound when it crossed into the northbound lane. A northbound 2026 Ford F-350 driven by 40-year-old Eric Leslie Florance of Guthrie, Oklahoma, tried to avoid the Nissan but could not prevent the collision. Florance and two passengers in the Ford, a 13-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, were taken to Nocona General Hospital with minor injuries.
The fatal collision remains under investigation as officials work to determine what caused the Nissan to cross into the opposite lane.
