Lincoln Township, MN (August 19, 2026) – An 81-year-old woman died after two Harley-Davidson motorcycles collided on Tuesday morning, August 18, on Hwy 60 in Blue Earth County. The motorcycles were traveling westbound near mile marker 98 when they came together.

Nancy Ann Beck, 81, of Dandridge, Tennessee, was driving a 2023 Harley-Davidson FLH. The other motorcycle was a 2026 Harley-Davidson FLH driven by 63-year-old Joyce Lynn Oliphant of Plano, Texas, who was not reported injured.

The motorcycles were traveling in the same direction, with Oliphant’s bike behind Beck’s before the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Our deepest condolences go to Beck’s family and loved ones.

What Factors Can Affect Motorcycle Accident Severity?

Motorcycle accidents can result in serious injuries because riders have less physical protection than people inside enclosed vehicles. Helmets provide important protection for the head and can reduce the risk of severe head trauma during a fall or roadway impact.

Rider visibility, following distance, speed, and traffic conditions can also affect motorcycle safety. Maintaining enough space between motorcycles gives riders more time to react when traffic changes suddenly. Proper lane positioning can help make a motorcycle easier for other drivers to see.

Protective clothing can provide additional protection for the skin and limbs. Jackets, gloves, pants, and sturdy footwear are commonly used by riders to reduce injuries during falls. Training and defensive riding techniques can also help motorcyclists recognize hazards and react safely.
