Hayti, MO (June 23, 2026) – A 70-year-old Hayti Heights woman lost her life on Sunday afternoon, June 21, after a wreck on Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County. The accident happened at 3:33 p.m., about five miles south of Hayti.
According to the report, the woman was driving a 2017 Ford Escape southbound. A 2017 GMC Yukon, driven by a 48-year-old Caruthersville man, was also traveling south.
The two vehicles collided, and the Ford ran off the right side of the road before overturning. The Ford had total damage and was towed from the roadway.
The woman was not wearing a safety device, according to the report. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 4 p.m.
The GMC had minor damage and was driven from the scene. The driver was wearing a safety device, and no injuries were listed for him.
