WOODSTOCK, McHenry County, Ill., Oct. 17, 2026 — Two people were hurt on Thursday, October 15, when a dump truck rolled onto its side in a two-vehicle crash on Route 14 in Woodstock, according to Woodstock police.
The crash happened near the Blain's Farm and Fleet store at 11501 Route 14. Woodstock Fire/Rescue District crews responded along with the police after the call initially went out as a possible entrapment, meaning dispatchers believed someone might be trapped inside one of the vehicles.
It was not immediately confirmed whether anyone was in fact pinned inside either vehicle once crews arrived. The extent of the injuries reported has not been released.
Police shut down eastbound Route 14 at Lake Avenue while crews worked the scene and cleared the overturned truck. It is not known how long the closure lasted or whether it affected traffic beyond that stretch.
The crash remains under investigation. No further details, including what led the dump truck to roll over, have been released.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are a truck's blind spots and why do they matter?
Large trucks have wide blind spots directly behind, in front of, and along both sides of the cab, usually called "no zones." Drivers in these areas may not be visible to the truck driver at all, which raises the risk of a collision during lane changes or turns.
What is an underride crash?
An underride crash happens when a smaller vehicle slides partially or fully under the trailer or body of a truck during a collision, usually because the truck's frame sits higher than the car's crumple zones. These crashes usually cause more severe damage and injury than a typical rear-end or side impact.
What are common causes of large-truck accidents?
Truck crashes are usually linked to factors like driver fatigue, following too closely, unsecured or shifting cargo, mechanical failure, and sudden maneuvers such as sharp turns that can cause a top-heavy vehicle to tip. Weather and road conditions can also play a role.
What to Do After a Rollover Crash in Woodstock, IL
If you're involved in or witness a rollover crash, call 911 right away and stay as still as possible until emergency crews confirm it's safe to move. Rollovers can cause injuries that aren't immediately obvious, so anyone involved should be checked out by medical personnel even if they feel fine at the scene. Keep a record of what you observed, including vehicle positions and any road or weather conditions, since those details can matter later. If you're a bystander near a closed roadway, follow police direction and avoid the area so crews can safely clear the scene.
