Why Vehicle Ejections Often Lead to Fatal Outcomes in Crashes
Vehicle ejections during crashes are among the most dangerous outcomes of a collision. When someone is thrown from a vehicle, they lose the protection provided by the vehicle’s structure, seat belts, and airbags. This can lead to severe injuries caused by contact with the roadway or nearby objects.
Ejections often occur when occupants are not properly restrained or when the force of a crash causes a door or window to open. High speeds, rollovers, and side impacts can increase the chance of someone being thrown from a vehicle.
Seat belts are one of the most effective safety features for preventing ejections. When worn correctly, they help keep occupants inside the vehicle during a crash and reduce the risk of fatal injuries.
