Frequently Asked Questions
Why is distracted driving considered such a serious risk on the road?
Even a few seconds with a driver's eyes or attention off the road can mean missing a stopped car or a change in traffic, which is why distraction remains a leading factor in crashes nationwide.
Can weather or road conditions make a crash more likely?
Rain, fog, glare and debris can all reduce traction and visibility, giving drivers less time to react, so it's wise to slow down and increase following distance when conditions turn poor.
What should someone do right after being in a car accident?
Check for injuries, move to a safe spot if possible, call 911, and exchange information with the other driver while waiting for police and medical responders to arrive.
Where do most traffic crashes tend to happen?
Many crashes occur at intersections and on local roads with cross traffic, turning vehicles, or driveways, rather than on highways, where traffic generally moves in one consistent direction.
