Weaverville, NC (July 31, 2026) – A young passenger was seriously injured after being ejected from an RV in a multi-vehicle wreck on US-25 near Weaverville, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Troopers say a tractor-trailer, traveling south in the left lane, crossed into the RV’s lane while turning into a truck stop and struck it. The accident took place on Thursday, July 30.
The RV sustained significant damage. The young passenger was taken to Mission Hospital with serious injuries. No charges have been filed but are pending.

Why Are Passengers in RVs More Vulnerable in a Side-Impact Crash?
Recreational vehicles are generally built differently than passenger cars, with less reinforced framing around the sides compared to a vehicle designed primarily for crash protection; this can leave occupants more exposed if another vehicle strikes the RV from the side.
