What Information Is Commonly Reviewed After a Two-Car Crash?

After a serious two-car crash, investigators typically examine several types of information to determine how the vehicles came into contact. This can include vehicle positions, damage patterns, traffic signals, roadway markings, and available surveillance footage. Statements from drivers, passengers, and witnesses may also help establish a timeline.

Other factors can include visibility, weather, lighting, and road conditions. Electronic data from newer vehicles may provide additional details about speed, braking, or steering before the collision. Medical records can also document the harm experienced by those involved. Early reports may contain only limited facts, with additional information becoming available as evidence is reviewed and the circumstances are examined more closely.
