Little Rock Township, IL (July 31, 2026) – A 49-year-old man died, and three others were hurt in a head-on collision on Wednesday afternoon on Galena Road west of Clark Road in Kendall County. The accident happened around 1:41 p.m.
Investigators said Daniel Hoffmann, of Earlville, was driving west on Galena Rd when he attempted to pass another vehicle and entered the opposite lane, where his vehicle struck an eastbound vehicle head-on. Hoffmann, who was alone in his vehicle, was pronounced dead at the site of the wreck. The Kendall County Coroner determined he died from blunt force injuries.
The occupants of the eastbound vehicle, a 38-year-old woman and two children, were taken to a hospital with significant injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Galena Rd remained closed for about three hours while the roadway was cleared.
The cause of the crash continues to be examined as investigators gather additional evidence.
