St. Petersburg, FL (August 10, 2026) – An 84-year-old man died Saturday afternoon, August 8, after losing control of his bicycle and striking a moving Toyota Corolla on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St.
The bicyclist was traveling north in a marked bicycle lane near the 1400 block around 12:15 p.m.
Emergency units took the man to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Corolla driver remained at the location and cooperated with the investigation.
The circumstances leading to the bicycle leaving its lane had not been determined in the initial report.
