Roaring River, NC (August 27, 2026) – A bicyclist died on Wednesday morning, August 26, after a vehicle struck him on Wilkes Yadkin Road near Mathis Farm Road in Wilkes County.
David Crews Doyle, 67, of Wilkesboro, was riding south with two other cyclists when a 2013 Dodge Journey approached them. The vehicle was traveling south and began passing the group in a designated passing zone.
As the Dodge passed the cyclists, Doyle started turning left into the parking lot of Cranberry Baptist Church. The vehicle struck him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The inquiry remains underway as investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the collision.
