Scott County, VA (August 25, 2026) – A pedestrian was in the eastbound lane of Bristol Hwy when a vehicle struck him early on Monday morning, August 24, in Scott County. The crash happened sometime between 3 and 4 a.m. in the 2900 block of Bristol Hwy.
The pedestrian was identified as Michael Vicars, 45, of Kingsport. Vicars died at the scene, and the vehicle involved left without remaining at the scene. The person driving the vehicle has not been identified in the initial report.
The investigation into the fatal collision remains underway, with investigators seeking additional information about what happened. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has relevant information is asked to contact the investigators.
