Hoxie, KS (August 23, 2026) – A fatal motorcycle collision occurred at about 10 a.m. on Friday, August 21, on U.S. 24 west of Hoxie. A truck was traveling east when its driver attempted to turn left into a parking lot.
The truck turned in front of an oncoming motorcycle, which struck the passenger side. The truck driver was not injured. The 70-year-old motorcyclist, Micael Roe, died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
U.S. 24 was closed in both directions between County Road 20W and County Road 50W. The closure covered a stretch from about two miles west of Hoxie to roughly five miles west of town. The highway reopened by 3 p.m., and drivers had been advised to use alternate routes.
The investigation into the fatal collision remains ongoing as officials work to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
