Marion County, FL (July 28, 2026) – A 59-year-old Anthony man lost his life after a motorcycle crash on July 28 in Marion County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal wreck happened around 4:30 p.m. on County Road 35, north of State Road 326. Investigators said the motorcyclist was traveling north when he attempted to negotiate a left-hand curve, left the roadway on the right side, and struck a fixed traffic sign.

The rider was thrown from the motorcycle, which came to rest in a nearby ditch. Emergency units took the man to a hospital, where he later died. The cause of the crash remains under investigation as additional details are gathered.

Our heartfelt condolences are with the man’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Why Curves Can Be Especially Dangerous for Motorcyclists

Curved roads require riders to carefully manage speed, balance, and steering. Entering a curve too quickly or making sudden corrections can increase the risk of leaving the roadway. Road surface conditions, loose gravel, uneven pavement, and limited visibility around bends may also affect a rider’s ability to maintain control.

Protective gear, including a properly fitted helmet, can reduce the risk of severe head injuries in many motorcycle crashes. Riders are also encouraged to slow down before entering curves, look through the turn, and maintain a smooth riding line. These practices can help improve stability and reduce the likelihood of losing control on winding roads.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
