Charlotte County, FL (June 29, 2026) – One person died after a semitruck and SUV collision on Saturday, June 27, on Interstate 75 near the Jones Loop Rd exit in Charlotte County. The fatal wreck occurred in the northbound lanes, where one lane remained blocked following the collision.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north when it entered the painted gore area of the exit ramp and struck the rear of a disabled semitruck that was stopped there. The SUV driver, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, a 45-year-old man from Saint Cloud, sustained minor injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal collision remain under investigation, and additional information is expected as the review continues.
