Hughesville, MD (August 31, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision was reported around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, near Prince Frederick Rd and Brookleigh Woods Ln. One of the vehicles caught fire after the two cars collided.
Emergency units arrived and extinguished the flames, which were confined to the engine compartment of one vehicle. Prince Frederick Rd was closed in both directions while crews handled the situation.
One person associated with the burning vehicle reportedly tried to leave the scene and was later taken into police custody. That person was not hurt.
EMS evaluated an adult and a child at the scene. A 32-year-old man was later taken to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center by ambulance for further evaluation. The child’s condition was not immediately available.
The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under review. The investigation is continuing as additional information is gathered.
