Salt Lake City, UT (September 1, 2026) – One person died, and five others were taken to the hospital with injuries following a head-on collision between a sedan and a Utah Transit Authority bus on Redwood Road.
Redwood Road and 1050 South were closed in both directions while the collision was investigated. Police said the bus was traveling northbound on Redwood Road when a southbound gray sedan crossed into oncoming traffic.
The sedan’s driver died at the crash site, while a passenger in the vehicle was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Four people aboard the bus were also taken to the hospital for injuries, according to Utah Transit Authority’s Gavin Gustafson.
The reason the sedan crossed into oncoming traffic had not been determined. Further details about the accident were not immediately available. The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under investigation as more information is gathered.
