Los Angeles, CA (September 1, 2026) – Eight people were hurt on Sunday afternoon in a two-car rollover collision in the San Fernando Valley.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 20300 block of Sherman Way near Oso Ave. One of the two vehicles overturned onto its roof during the collision.

Aerial footage showed airbags deployed inside the overturned vehicle. The cause of the wreck had not been determined from the initial information available.

All eight people involved had non-life-threatening injuries, according to fire officials. It was not immediately clear how many were taken to a hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the collision are still being examined. Our thoughts are with everyone hurt as they recover.

What Can Cause a Vehicle to Overturn During a Two-Car Collision?

A vehicle can overturn when a collision creates enough force to shift its balance. The risk can increase when one vehicle is struck from the side, when a car moves onto an uneven surface, or when a vehicle is forced into another path.

Vehicle design also affects rollover risk. A higher center of gravity can make some vehicles more prone to tipping under certain conditions. Tire condition, road surfaces, speed, and steering movements may also affect vehicle stability.

Safety systems such as seat belts and airbags can reduce the risk of serious harm during a rollover. Seat belts help keep occupants properly positioned, while airbags provide additional protection during sudden movement.

After a rollover, occupants may have injuries that are not immediately visible. Medical evaluation can help identify problems that may otherwise go unnoticed.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
