Frederick County, VA (June 25, 2026) – One person lost their life in a major multi-vehicle crash involving several tractor-trailers on Interstate 81 in Frederick County on Tuesday, June 23.
According to preliminary reports, the collision occurred on Interstate 81 Northbound near mile marker 307. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a serious crash involving multiple commercial vehicles.
Authorities indicated that three tractor-trailers overturned during the incident. Initial reports also stated that one person was killed in the crash. Responders faced a complex emergency scene that involved vehicle entrapment and a fire.
Interstate 81 Northbound was shut down for an extended period as firefighters, law enforcement officers, and emergency medical personnel worked to assist those involved, extinguish the fire, and investigate the collision.
