Hemet, CA (June 8, 2026) – A 10-year-old boy was killed on Friday afternoon, June 5, after a fire engine and a Mini Cooper were involved in a collision at the intersection of Domenigoni Parkway and State Street in Hemet.
According to the California Highway Patrol reports, the crash happened at about 12:35 p.m. The fire engine was traveling with emergency lights, and the siren was activated as it headed toward the Cranston Fire in the San Bernardino National Forest when it came into contact with the Mini Cooper. The 43-year-old driver of the Mini Cooper died at the site. The young passenger seated in the front of the car was taken to a hospital, where he later lost his life. A second child who was riding in the back seat was evaluated at a medical facility as a precaution. Investigators said all occupants of the Mini Cooper were wearing seatbelts.
Three people aboard the fire engine were also evaluated at a hospital and later released. Further details about those involved have not been publicly released. CHP investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
