Monroe County, GA (July 15, 2026) – One person was killed, and four others were taken to a hospital after an 18-wheeler rear-ended a van on southbound I-75 near mile marker 187 in Monroe County, Georgia, on Tuesday, July 15, at approximately 6:10 a.m.
The van, a Ford Transit owned by Georgia Environmental, was carrying five people when a Freightliner Cascadia driven by a 65-year-old man from McDonough struck it from behind near the Cabiness Road exit. The force of the collision pushed the Transit into a Jeep Grand Cherokee, making it a three-vehicle accident in total. Patricia Mosso Ramirez, of Norcross, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family was notified following the crash.
The four others inside the van were taken to Atrium Health Navicent with injuries. Their conditions had not been released at the time of the initial report on the collision. No injuries to the driver of the Jeep were mentioned in the early report on the wreck.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. No information about whether charges had been filed was released as of this report.
