Bridgeville, DE (September 13, 2026) – Two people were killed on Friday afternoon, September 11, after a Toyota Camry crossed into oncoming traffic on Seashore Highway near Oak Road.
The accident happened around 12:40 p.m., according to Delaware State Police. The Camry was traveling east when it entered the westbound lane and struck a Peterbilt dump truck head-on.
The 19-year-old Camry driver, Blem Lopez-Lopez of Millsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 23-year-old passenger, Andrea Reyes Castellanos of Honduras, was taken to a local hospital, where she died later.
The dump truck driver, a 58-year-old man from Ridgely, Maryland, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. A third Peterbilt tractor hauling a loaded car trailer avoided the collision and went into a ditch, but its driver was not hurt.
The dump truck caught fire after the collision. Seashore Highway remained closed for about five hours while crews cleared the roadway and investigators examined the wreck.
The investigation into what caused the accident remains underway.
